Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Comber, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, which must have been held for the duration specified in your Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any additional requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations with Comber can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and fees will be applied accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up, as refueling charges will be applied if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will be held accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. For comprehensive details on coverage and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lessen your financial liability. Review these options thoroughly. You are liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount, except when additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous conduct. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding weight or passenger limits, and traveling outside approved geographical boundaries without consent are also violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Comber Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the last 12 months, excluding cases of negligence resulting in death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of this jurisdiction.
Updates to Terms
Comber reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
